First off can I just say that the UK(right) edition is much nicer than the US(left) edition. It is more aesthetically pleasing and looks way cooler than the US edition. The whole colour scheme works much better and I like how it’s all centered in the middle of the page. With the US cover there’s so much going on, it makes it difficult to look at. I think it looks more juvenile as well with the drawings on it.
Anyway this was published on August 27th by Walker Books. It is a new release as you can tell and is about the people who aren’t the heroes of the story. As in the ones who don’t kick zombie ass or fight Immortals, the people who are going about a normal life in the midst of a totally not normal world. A world filled with supernatural creatures and the fear of not being able to ask out the girl you like before the school might get blown up again. The not Chosen One’s.
Okay, so I have literally just finished reading The Wrath And The Dawn and my mind is exploding. I just had to get my thoughts on it down pronto. Everyone has been talking about and reading this book recently, so obviously I picked it up. This was a freaking amazing book! I cannot convey how awesome I thought this book was, the characters, the plot, everything was just great. But seriously, that ending though! I will not be giving away any spoilers here, but if you have read the book you will know what I mean. All I’m going to say it that there is a whopper of a cliff hanger. So I was just going along reading happily and then right in the middle of the action the book ends. I am in agony. I HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR. A whole year for the next book. Give me the strength to get through this please.
Other than that I have not been reading as much as I would like to. I was busy helping out at a kids camp all of last week and had absolutely no time to read. Which was really difficult because a few days before it I started reading The Wrath And The Dawn, which was a completely consuming story and all I wanted to do was stay up all night reading it. But I couldn’t because I was just so tired, and had to get up early every morning. That meant that I hadn’t really read very much since the read-a-thon.I have only read two books since then which is not much at all. And sadly I won’t be getting much time any time soon to read because I will be working a lot over the next two weeks and then going abroad. But I will try my best.
I still have to put up one more review from the read-a-thon, which is Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. It’s in the works at the moment and I will try to get it up sometime during this week hopefully. I’m in the mood now to read a really quick contemporary romance or something because I feel like all the books I have been reading at the moment have been really intense. I need a break!
So upon looking up all of my book-tubers on youtube I came across this read-a-thon. I was very excited, because I always seem to miss them when they’re happening. But it is not so this time. I have caught it and it looks to be a really cool one! I found out about it from Peruse Project, who put up a video of the books that she was going to read for it and it just got me really excited. Mainly because, with my recent book haul I now have many more colorful books that fit in perfectly with this read-a-thon. The read-a-thon was originally created by a bunch of book-tubers, which is just awesome really.
So what this read-a-thon is, is you pick six books that are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple(must be the spines). Or you can pick seven books, all of the same colour. You have from the 15th to the 22nd of June, which is Monday to Sunday, to read all of these books. To make it easier though, you can double up on some books. By this I mean that you can have a book that has say a blue background with purple writing, allowing you to knock off both of those colours.
The books that I have chosen are as follows(in order of colour):
So as you can see I have not taken the easier route, six books is a hell of a lot to read in a week. Who knows if I will read all of them, but I’m hoping I can get through some. I’ve already read one, so hopefully that will give me a good start to it. Since I will be spending this whole week with my nose buried in one book or another, I won’t be posting very much. I will do a wrap up of how things went with the read-a-thon some time at the end of the week and hopefully will have some reviews up.
Let me know if you’re participating and what your rainbow looks like, I am very curious!
Happy reading 🙂
So I am currently reading Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater, this is the companion novel to the Wolves of Mercy Falls series. I got so excited when I saw this book. Not because I really wanted to read it, which may seem weird, but because I really liked the cover and also I found it in my local thrift store for 10 cents! I know I couldn’t believe it either. I got this book along with a huge haul of cheap books from the thrift store all for €1. And by huge I do mean Huge, we’re speaking like 10 books here. Some of the books that I found were on my TBR, which I was so happy about. And don’t even get me started on the quality of the books. All I can say is floppy(you know what I mean).
But any way back to the book. The cover I have isn’t the one shown above. This is because I found an advanced copy, like an ARC. You can see how I got excited. It’s orange with black vines and flowers along the outer edges, and on the cover it just says “Everybody knows his story. But only you know his secret. Can this sinner be saved?”. Like that’s all, no other writing on it. I can not convey how pretty it is and what a nice edition it is(floppy!). I’m just so excited to have an ARC, even though I found it in a thrift store, I still think it’s really cool(I don’t know why).
I am currently half way through and it’s going well. Nothing amazing here, but is quite enjoyable to read. I absolutely love how both characters(Cole and Isabel) are both weird and eccentric people. The way they interact with each other is so entertaining to read about and I can’t wait to see how their story ends!
Happy reading 🙂
